Hello, my dear readers!

Now that fall is here and you’ve snagged all of your essential fall pieces for this season, you may be wondering how to style some of the new pieces you own.

And I get it––it can be hard to dress appropriately for the changing weather while also still maintaining your own sense of style. That on top of the fact that sometimes it may even feel like you still have nothing to wear. Coming up with stylish outfits everyday can be a challenge, but I’m here to tell you that it’s simpler than you think.

Having versatile pieces in your wardrobe makes it easier to create outfits and expand your wardrobe without actually having to buy new clothes as frequently.

In this week’s blog post, I’m going to style one item, ten different times, to show you just how easy it can be to switch up your style and produce multiple looks from just one staple item. Knowing how to rework certain pieces into different looks can help when you’re in a time crunch or looking for a new way to style what you already own.

1. + Mom Jeans

Mom jeans were a staple in the 90s and they're making a huge comeback! You can pair them with pretty much anything, making them a piece you need in your closet. This also means they go very well with tops like the one mentioned in this blog post.

2. + Corduroy Mini Skirt

I've recently fallen back in love with corduroy. It's perfect for the fall and the ribbed material adds texture and a more stylistic element to the look. Adding a corduroy piece to any look gives it the perfect autumn vibe!

3. + Leather Jacket

If you're going for an edgier look, a leather jacket is the perfect piece to have in your wardrobe. This jacket would go well with my white turtleneck, as it provides contrast to the rather simple look. There are two types of leather jackets that I believe fits well with this style: 1. The Moto Jacket and 2. The Oversized Leather Jacket. The Moto jacket has more of a cropped, biker style which works to lengthen your appearance. If you opt for the oversized leather jacket (which is in right now) you get a more laid-back look while having more room and being more comfortable. Whichever jacket you choose, they both go great with many different tops, especially white turtlenecks.

4. + Flared Jeans

Flared jeans are another piece that are making the rounds on the fashion scene. The flare at the bottom of these provide a statement look to your outfit and draws attention to the bottom half of your body, making you appear taller and adding a little flare to your look. Pun intended.

5. + Black Sweatpants

Running late in the morning? Having a lazy day? Sweatpants are your best friend in this scenario and they go great with a plain white turtleneck. This way, you can be comfy and warm while still looking chic.

6. + Brown Suede Jacket

Similar to the Leather Jacket, a brown suede jacket adds a pop of color to the already simple look. The contrast in color and texture creates a layered look that's perfect for the chilly autumn weather that most people are experiencing during this time.

7. +Longline Blazer

A longline blazer is perfect to pair with a simple white turtleneck. The outcome of pairing these two together looks sophisticated while you still remain warm and comfortable. Throwing on a longline blazer also makes it look like you spent time on your outfit, even if it only took you seconds to put it together!

8. +Denim on Denim

Lastly, a controversial outfit choice, maybe, but denim-on-denim is just what this plain turtleneck needs. With the right shades of denim, layering a jacket and a pair of pants with this top would look stylish.

It's important to learn how to mix-and-match styles and pieces so that you can, ideally, have an unlimited number of outfits to put together and choose from.

And the fun thing about this is: you can create a whole new look depending on your staple item (i.e. my white turtleneck)! Maybe it's hotter where you live, and therefore you may want to swap out the turtleneck for a short sleeved top or tank top.

Whatever you decide, the key to looking your best is having confidence, so make sure to rock your look with the best accessory: your smile!
