Hello lovely readers!
As classes are wrapping up and the year is coming to a close, the Dress with Dav journey is also beginning to wind down.
The fashion world is constantly moving, trends are constantly coming and going, and with that, my blog will go too.
But before my journey, here, comes to an end, I just would like to reiterate some things I’ve learned along the way, through having this blog and conducting research for this platform. These are things that I believe you should always keep in mind when shopping, finding your style, styling pieces, and––most importantly––learning what works best for you.
1. Pick versatile options always
This is a sentiment I have always stood by. When shopping for clothes, it’s important to think about which items can be used for as many different outfits as possible. When you buy versatile pieces, you’re able to keep that item in your closet for longer, as well. A good versatile, staple piece will not only get you more bang for your buck, but it’ll also come in handy when you’re in a time-crunch and need to put an outfit together quickly. Keep this in mind: A good pair of black jeans will always outlast a funky pair of zebra print ones.
2. Have a little fun
But just because versatile pieces should make up a majority of your closet, doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun. Tons of fashion shows and magazines showcase anything but the ordinary, versatile piece. Adding funky pieces to your closet can spice up your looks, if you’re looking to make a statement. The important thing is finding a balance between simple and statement pieces, and making sure it works for you and your style.
3. Wear your clothes with confidence
Harry Styles once said the most attractive thing a girl can wear is her smile. Though cheesy, I have to say, he made a good point. Confidence is key, no matter what, but when exploring your style, it’s especially essential. I know when I’m wearing a nice outfit, my confidence is higher than usual. No matter what you’re wearing, confidence will always be a necessary accessory to any fit.
4. Fashion can be fun for all
Fashion is fun because it has no labels. This means anyone can (and should) wear whatever makes them comfortable or happy. Styles and trends can be worn by anyone no matter their gender. I’ve also found that people tend to stick to a particular style, even though there are so many out there. Some days I may feel like dressing edgier, while other days I may feel like wearing a fancy dress. I’ve learned that it’s totally normal and fun to step out of your comfort zone, every once in a while, and try something new. You might end up loving it!
5. Learn how to shop on a budget
Nowadays, it’s so easy to be blinded by sale signs and discounts, which (for the most part) can be great. But a lot of people can be easily persuaded to spend more money when it comes to shipping costs or through “buy now, pay later” sites like AfterPay. For this reason, it’s important to shop and spend with a level head. A sentiment that I’ve heard used to help combat impulsive spending on expensive items is: “If you can’t buy it twice, don’t buy it at all.” This basically means if you don’t have enough money to buy it two times, it’s better off if you don’t buy it. This saying has saved me from spending countless times.
6. Having passion is important
One thing about loving fashion is that the passion for it must also be there. It’s not always easy to follow trends and keep up with the fashion world, but having a love and drive for the styling, the items, and the process is what’s going to keep you afloat and keep you passionate.
So there it is, readers. Thank you for coming along on this journey with me. I hope that you’ve learned more about fashion and have learned to love it as much as I do! Stay stylish, friends.
